I recently bought Figo ZXI Petrol version. I am facing the problem with its low ground clearance. With 4 persons in the vehicle whenever I cross any midsized speed breaker the base of the body touches it.Not sure whether the problem is only with my car or others are also facing the same. | Reply

With 4 people the air pressure in your all 4 wheels should be 35 otherwise you will face difficulty on speedbreakers | Reply

you can go for it.. provided you are ready to empty your pocket for fuel. this is really a gas burner..average of petrol is really less .. it only returns 8-9 kmpl in city and 11.5 kmpl on highway. so be ready to spend money for hatchback instead of of nice mid sized sedan. | Reply

Got my Figo Diesel titanium last week.In simple I can say, the car which have more essential features.Long wheel base, good leg room, shoulder roomHead room is good for driver and co driver and at the rear tall boys over 6 may face problems if we drive thru bumps in good speed.Though the ground clearance is good, occasionally under body hits the bumps in chennai.Low and easy entry as well exit.Ride and handling was a great fun.The vehicle odo clocked 1000 yesterday, including a long drive of 350 kms.200 kms of city (Chennai city) drive 350 kms of highway drive consumed 35 lits of diesel.Further details will follow. | Reply

Punto is a car for enjoyment. Absolutely this car is not for racer, because it has less pick in 1st and 2nd Gear. But if you to enjoy the riding comfort, look, long life and safety go for PUNTO, no other car in this segment will come nearby to Punto. Each car has its own limitations, even punto has it (low pick up in 1st | Reply

who told you people that ritz is the best? Noooooo way. I would say that ford figo is the best option. I just had an test drive on ford figo. It just feels like fiesta itself. Just like fiesta reduced its size. and not only that its really worthing in the price and really competitive to ritz and also even to swift no doubt. According to the looks some people may like and some would like. but i liked the looks of it. Everyone says thah swift is good looking. But these people itself was not able to accept its looks in the begining and later did. the same is gona happen to figo also. so figo roksssssss | Reply

Hiii.. I am in a bit confused state here.. coz I'm unable to decide which car to go for, Ford Figo or Fiat Punto.. both in diesel variant. My usage is mainly in city limits and long drives on weekends. Currently I drive an Octavia. I like the external looks of Punto however the engine need lot of refinement, slightly underpowered and the interiors is very shabby... On the other side Figo gives good driving pleasure and interiors are comparatively okay, but doesn't have gr8 external looks... VolksWagen Polo is good choice, but 4 months waiting period is a concern... even Punto 90 bhp is getting launched on tomorrow... but that over priced... 7.7 on road... That leaves my choice either for Figo ZXI or Punto Emotion. If some automakers can get me the comfort and engine of Figo in Punto at the cost of Figo... I will be overwhelmed.Just kidding... So friends... Punto or Figo... What do you say??? | Reply

plz go fido...nev'r go 4 punto...its not at all fair to drive punto diesel in city with ac..pick up is very poor below 2000 rpm , that is only after turbo get activated , the car feels gud....but frm my experience no such pblm with figo....its the best diesel hatch for city driving, after polo...u plz consider swift also..but waiting period is too long...and suspension is very stiff...As an automobile engineer, I suggest ford figo.
baby (24 July 2010 22:22) Reply to raj
Figo has got this pseudo bumper sort of a thing. that makes it take a lot of impact into the engine compartment. Not a good design. and you can never compare fiats build quality with ford. Fiat is miles ahead of any other car safety wise and build qualityu wise
vinu (17 July 2010 06:31) Reply to Abhilash
Lots of discussions have been made on how the car looks and people still go ga ga over it. Designed by Giorgetto Guigiaro of Italdesign, Punto manages to turn heads and looks positively masculine in a good way. It looks proportionate, clean and most importantly, is a design that will prove to be timeless, unlike the boring Polo or Confused I 20 or the old Figo looks. | Reply
rangeeth (16 July 2010 20:57) Reply to Abhilash
Dude...i had the same confusion, went with the punto not just because of its drop dead gorgeous looks, it had much better mileage than the figo, excellent handling, amazing steering feedback, good city driveability ( u can go at 40 kmph in the fifth gear) and when it comes to highways, nothing comes close to punto, tonns of features than the figo or the damn polo. Punto hands down dude. | Reply

I purchased Figo Titanium, Diesel, I would say its another ordinary car nothing very special about it. its an average car. I have driven it almost 2600 KMS and find all sorts of ratlings begining and speakers make lots of unwanted noice. Suspension makes lots of noice when braking and releasing the brakes these really a ordinary quality. I think forums are flood by Figo dealers and Ford people creating multiple users and hyping this car for marketing. Honestly this is another ordinary car. One more thing High end Titanium feels like a lower end car when compared to other cars high end in the segment for example no proper central locking its just for name sake, no power windows (rear) , yes I knew when i bought but I was overshadowed by the hype of this car anyways its late for me but hope to help other new buyers to think twice I am sure there are better ones in the market with few bugs more or less so do a better research and dont go by the hype that is being created about this car in the market its just a hype car and nothing much beyond. So think twice dont finalize on this car by reading the reviews as I did the mistake. | Reply

Braking distance : Fiat punto 1.3 diesel - 49.6m, Ford Figo 1.4 diesel - 47.9m(lifted from Smartcat's thread on hatchbacks). However the punto's brakes felt better, there is an urgency to act, better bite. I have not banged anybody on the Figo though!

rajesh (17 June 2010 16:58) Reply to divya
Personally, my advice would be : If you can afford it and stretch your budget, go for the Punto. If on a budget, or VFM matters very highly to you, the Figo. My brother may need a hatchback in the coming months (I'm convincing him on a pre-worshipped luxo sedan though ), and the Punto is top on my list. Especially with that sport version 'em Fiat India is talking about. Somehow, the Italian hatch pulls the strings to your heart like no other.
nutcase (22 June 2010 19:06) Reply to divya
I have owned both a Fiat and Ford and I can tell you both of these are wonderful cars and give you that lovely 'drivers car' feeling which my Spark does not give me. But if I were to choose between a punto or a figo I would surely go for a punto simply because it is a newer design, better looks and the handling dynamics are slightly superior if not too much.
firoz (23 June 2010 13:04) Reply to divya
I think if you go for punto then u will compromise with price its lttle expencive. because between punto and figo's price diffrence is more than 50000/- also interior space is almost same. performance is similar. feature better than figo from punto. bluetooth connectivity, airbag, abs, rear wiper, deffoger, electric mirror, distance to empty mirror,284 ltr boot space, more than 25 km/ltr mileage on diesel is only available in figo on just 5.40 lakh. smart choice is figo.
ray (24 June 2010 21:38) Reply to divya

Gadi Baba (12 June 2010 15:11) Reply to Amitava Ganguly
Well it is because of the design of the rear door. The curve in the door above the wheel does not allow the glass to roll down fully. It is not a defect but an intentionally added feature..the dealer says its a safety feature to prevent kids at the rear seat from sticking their necks/hands out. Such a feature can also be seen in aveo U-VA | Reply

I am pretty sure the kind of small but cool things you find in Punto you will not find in any other premium hatch. A few examples:(1) You can switch on one side of parking lights depending on which side you park(2) While your wipers on, if you want to take reverse and engage the back gear, reverse wiper will switch on automatically(3) MID (Distance, Mileage, Real time mileage, Distance to empty etc.,)(4) Indication on dashboard regarding which bulb is fused(5) Indication on dashboard regarding which door is open (like boot is open) | Reply

Iunderstand the punto drives well at speed of 70 to 80km in terms of fueleconomy, handling and ride domains I also feel this may be one off reports unless others also claim thesame....

Figo does have no bumpers (front/rear), as compared to 800/Santro or any other cars In case of these kind of incidents which invariably creates an impact on the boot lid/bonnet and AC compressor becasue of filmsy or no bumper. Repairing of these would cost a unnecessary dent in owner's pocket. | Reply

Usually its prudent to wait for atlest 6 months after the car is released to see how the road performance is. Unfortunately most people rushed and booked the figo because it was priced less, and now they are going to screwed by its running costs. Less mileage and its a known fact that ford service is damn expensive. As for me, I waited for the ford figo and finally ended up booking Fiat Grande Punto MJD Emotion Pack. the value for money was excellent, excellent ride quality, stability, awesome highway manners, FE of 19 kmpl within city limits, sexy looks and better service offerings these days and most of all my GF loves it..smack. | Reply

Hi guys...I bought Figo diesel ZXI on 30th April and till now i have driven 1700 kms. Last week i checked the mileage accurately by filling the tank. It gave me 16.54 km/ litre with AC in jalandhar city driving and always 4 people sitting. Initially i was too hesitant regarding mileage but i went through a lot of search and bought Figo. I am very much pretty satisfied. The mileage is bound to increase further after first service at 2500 kms. Any more doubts guys about figo? | Reply

I have a diesel titanium figo and gives me 28.2 km/ltr mileage on highway and 16to18 on city after first servicing.i am satisfied. i have run this car after 1 minut of first start also run maximum 80-100speed on first 1500 km very smoothly.i think due to this i have got thats mileage.

Ford figo they call it cheap and value for money, and when ford fools have gone to the extent of not providing 5k worth power windows then imagine the amount of cost cutting that would have gone into the quality of the car. go and read the team bhp forums, people r complaining about 12 to 13 kmpl mileage and they are hoping that the mileage would increase. SOme of my friends are advising to go for fiats multijet engine, either buy swift or a punto diesel., both are giving around 20 kmpl for diesel within city. 12 to 13 kmpl within city limits is not worthy enough. Am terribly confused between figo , swift and punto. | Reply

Hi Guys, mileage is 18 with AC on in city and 24 on highway with AC on for 1.3 multijet diesel Punto. I own punto multijet Active from last four months and 6400 kms done so far and I love the way it drives and excellent cornering. Can take on swift diesel in 3rd and 4rth gear. It is the safest Car I beleive on rad in India presently considering the price. Yesterday while comming from dehradun I met a serious accedent which my Car took in a brilliant way. While overtaking Honda Accord, the honda driver by mistake suddenly presssed breaks instead of accelerator which he admitted later(very nice family guy). I was just 3 to 4 mtrs behind hime overtaking at a speed of 90 km/h. Now you can imagine the condition. When I pressed my breaks, the car almost came to 35 to 40 km/h speed in the given space and hit the Honda Accord directly from back. The result of this collision was, Hond Accord rear bumper came out. As we had put on the seat belts so no injuries happened and inside the cabin the jurk was very low, I dont know where the energy generated during the collision went. I thought I would be having a serious damage in the front. When I came out of the car and lokked at my bumper, there was few Honda bumper paint marks but no damage at all. It seems like it was pressed back ward and came to its original position. The collision did not reach to my bonnet. Thanks to big bumper after the bonnet. I really thanks Fiat to built such a safe care with safety stnadard of 5 star. Even the breaking was rock solid. Along with God, fiat saved me from injuries. I can tell you in comparison because damage was sever in our old zen with it met with almost same incident. Punto really rocks with it tank like build.

But after 15 days and NO SIGN of the car, i had to cancel it (paying for the cancellation fee through my pocket). To top it off, Harpreet Ford asked me to buy the top model, as the Zxi that i had wanted, was not available. More so, Ford people are so callous that they do not even bother to have a feedback tab anywhere on their website. A friend who has a Fiesta had suggested me the Figo, but honestly he's regretting it now! SHAME on you. | Reply

i have bought a ford figo titanium fully loaded, its been 1.5 months ..so faar so good..wanted to try a new entry car instead of swift vdi with abs... figo is as comfortable as a swift, strong and sturdy, has got ABS and EBD ( which no other car in that segmant has). the only drawback i see now is 1. more noiser than other diesel cars ( which i manage to mask it with my music system always ;-) .2. the rear windows open only half ( which i dont miind at all, since my two kids always sit behind.)..my two bits.. tried test driving punto..but not happy with the driving comfort,, and polo...its only 3 cylinders.. | Reply

Santosh I beg to differ with you. Maruti are market leaders in Indiia, but with a steady drop in market share. You should compare a 5 yr Santro with a Wagon R. The Santro will come across as a sturdier package. Similarly for Esteem Vs. Ford Ikon / Accent / Honda City etc. Take a closer look at the competition and you will soon see where Maruti is missing out. | Reply

Fiat Punto cannot be compared to any other car available today in the Indian market. Braking and Handling on corners of Punto is exemplary. I don`t know why people cry about it`s slow pick up before turbo kicks in because the torque is available for high speed driving. I`ve driven Punto upto 160 kmph on Mum-Pune E`way and it is rock solid. I20 starts rattling at 135 kmph. Steering in Punto is perfectly balanced. Not too light or heavy. I20 steering isn`t that refined. Even if I20 was available at Punto`s price, Punto would be the best buy, always. | Reply

My Friend's Figo EXI (petrol) which is just 3 weeks old got its tyre replaced yesterday. The tyre was defective and that was the reason the car was pulling towards left. And the kind of shouting was required..well i dont think everybody will be able to do it. Quite a few Figos are having alignment issue and Ford is trying to proactively manage this. The news papers are yet to report this issue. Details in Facebook figo wall. For a new car to have this kind of issue not good. And the service quality is lousy. My friend thinks he has done a mistake in buying Ford. I dont want to get into any kind of argument but if a new Ford owner who used a Hyundai car before says this, the point needs to be taken a bit seriously. But the car in itself is good. | Reply

Samarjeet (07 April 2010 13:03) Reply to Kesav
Hii Kesav, the accelerator is sensor control. Fuel injection is controled by the sensors, thus making it fuel efficient. The engine doesn't comes to race immediately at 2nd gear. Diesel engine is obviously more powerful. But i will suggest to go for petrol version as its maintenance free. | Reply

Ford figo will be a bad choice. My friend facng lot of problems with it. changeed tyres already. Ford did for free though. Diesel give mileage of 11 kmpl. Not sure if the problem is specific to that car.

I got the delivery of the EXI model (diesel) a couple of days back and I am extremely happy with the car. The engine is fantastic, the overall handling of the car is superb, the gear box is absolutely superb, the steering is light and has a very good feel to it, the first fuel fill gave me a mileage of 15.6 kms/l within the city - so quite optimistic that it will touch a figure of 18 or so post first service. The car is conservative in its looks, but provides great overall visibility, excellent seating position, great leg room (I had 3 adults sitting at the back very comfortably for a 150 km long drive recently), good interiors (black / coral red dashboard), probably the best boot space in its segment - the boot almost matches a sedan. The only grouse is the bad ford dealership - unprofessional and badly managed - For a car so good, its high time Ford put in some efforts in managing their dealers. | Reply

Agee, and not just young people, I think figo is a mature vehicle attracting older people as well. I took test drive and enjoyed it. Response from Ford was instant even prior to launch. Moreover, MD and President seems to be serious about his intention to be serious about quality of service and their plans to be firmly in India. I would like Ford to add the much awaited accessory section on their site. Particularly when figo is not offered with fog lamps, alloy wheels etc. | Reply

people have differentviews some like vibrant colours so red and sqeese are the best and give a dashing look some think that it is a long term investment they like shades of grey as they look decent and long lasting as it is a choice and taste | Reply

guess ford has dug its own grave. fact of the matter is that, they have this japanese sense of design which they call "european" and they think indian buyers would love it and fall for it (with some unnecessary LED's and chrome strips). where is the ford focus prper hatch ,f**k the price, when jass can cost you somewhere between 8-9 lakhs and ppl buy it so can the focus(both ST and RS). and please GM don't sell any of ur thai, Malaysian brands here FORD get new designers for the indian market. we have the money and you cannot exploit us like this. | Reply

The ford Figo's origin may have been outgoing fieasta which was launched in 2005. Before questioning it, one thing we must remember, M800 is a model which is (launched1983 in India and ealier to it in Japan) 26 old and is still going in the market. It shows that, there are people who is price conscious who want to buy a car,at lesser price even if it is generations old. The new designed cars cost dearly as the development cost involves. Ford here is trying to make a cheap offerdable car for the mass. This process will save costing on the Figo( by using outgoing dies and jigs), ultimately the pricing in India justify the product. Let us wait and see. | Reply

@Col. Ravi, What do you mean Swanky? Cars are not only used for transport, it's a passion, it's a thirst, it's pleasure, it's your personality, it's love for your vehicle. If you want restrict all cars and develop infrastructure, what for infrastucture is developed? If you have a fine 8 track highway for 250kmh speed and you want drive in what? a nano or M800? We have only one life why should we restrict ourself...?? Please think yourself..!! I would suggest you to buy the best car available, Your life is really worth having it...!! | Reply

I don't know if Ford is aware of the Quality of sales and service of the ford dealers across India. I had really bad experience @Kairali Ford, Trivandrum. The success or otherwise of Ford small car depends up on your ability render good customer service. most of your past customers say negatively about you when they recall their ownership experience. any way good luck to the SMALL CAR | Reply

Thank God ,Ford co has come to our resque.Infact, people earnings upto 6 Lakhs should only be permitted to buy small car and NOT swanki cars at all . Goverment must instruct banks not to grant loan for such swanki cars at all.One must learn to live within means/ Loans can be used for infra structure ,health care and education. | Reply
