The Tata Nano is finally here, sadly for the skeptics it is real and funnily enough for the competition it does even more than its most fervent supporters deemed it possible. How do we know this when the car has just been launched? Simple, we had a pilot production version for our own use for an entire day a week ago, where we drove it through traffic infested streets, zipped through wide national highways and climbed hills and ghat sections to get the best experience ever of a car which is as much revolution as it is a tool for social engineering; a machine which rewrites the very rules of the business and is the country's finest calling card when it comes to staking its place in the hall of automotive greats. It also reflects the strength of character, not just of Ratan Tata but the empowered bunch that turned a dream into actual motoring reality.

    Good piece of Tata engineering, hope it does not follow the Indica legacy when it was launched. Just wondering if the Tatas would like to manufacture a bike with the Nano Engine. This would be great, since there would be good power to weight ratio and would give us India's first indigenous super bike :-). | Reply

    Hi AllI bought recently a new Tata Indigo.we took it for the first time and on the highway the bonnet Openend Automatically.Tata Motors on verification said that the Lock is Working fine and threw the case on to us saying we had kept the Bonnet open.We said that the Ribbon Tied to the Bonnet which comes with every new vehicle and when the Bonnet is openend for the first time the Ribbon moves out. This ribbon was present while the Accident happenend.It was really dissappointing buying such a new Vehicle.So we have decided to go the Consumer Court,I request all of you to please note this case can happen to any one of you and Tata's will come with similar answer.Request you all to please think twice before buying any Tata Vehicle.The Risk and thhe Choice is yours. | Reply

    When we talk about the quality of TATA cards, we shouldn't forget that in 70's Japanese cars were known to be low quality,and even today, korean cars are not known for quality worlwide. Here, thing is that what Indians are capable of. Earler we proved ourself outside, designing Pentium chips, now we are doing in our own country.Now a days, TATA'a are testing their cars worldwide before launching. | Reply

    One cannot deny that when Ratan Tata makes a promise, he keeps it. But given that this car comes from the Tata stables, I would definitely NOT buy it. As an existing Tata car user and like many similar users in my family and friends circle, we all feel that we have made a mistake in buying a vehicle from Tata. Our cars (Marutis, Hondas etc) that were sold off in favour of the Tata cars earlier are even today in much better shape as compared to the Tata cars that we own. As it is their service levels and the competancy of their mechanics is at its limits, their product finish leaves a lot to be desired about, AND the fact that they have taken on the additional burden of servicing Fiats cars brings me to question their motives about keeping their customers happy. While I do not deny that this is a car for the masses, I fail to see if Tata can ever keep their customers happy by providing a finishing touch that can truely keep them at a level higher that some of the global auto manufacturers. One only has to see the level of finish that has been applied to some of their European versions of their cars and one can visibly see that we Indians are being cheated out of quality products that are only ment for foreign nations.Just something to keep in mind | Reply

    I live in the U.S. and I am used to cars that have a lot of features, many of them we never use. Nano is not simply a car, it is a fulfilment of a commitment , a dream come true for the middle class and the show of a spirit that you can overcome hurdles if you put your mind to it. Mr. Ratan Tata is a man of integrity and a man of his words. He is a man with a soft and kind heart who could feel the pain and suffering of millions of Indians who have to haul their families in very unsafe conditions on motorbikes. Those critics who are lambasting this revolutionary car should look into the mirror and they will realize that if they are truely Indians they should feel proud because this car has made the whole world talk about India and its car industry. It is a moment of pride for every Indian. Yes, those who are rich, own expensive cars and do not want anyone else to own one (because we Indians believe in superiority and inferiority, while everyone is created equal by God) will be smarting that their prerogative is now compromized. My heartiest congratulations to Mr. Ratan Tata who had the vision and brought it to fruition in a record time. Hats off to Mr. Tata | Reply

    kudos to all the indians?? who are comparing the nanos onroad price 1.23L to the ex showroom price of the M800 1.85L and saying its just 50,000 cheaper.Comments in the media by people like the nano has no body coloured bumpers,no music system,no ABS,no airbags,no AC,No power windows ,no power steering is crap.which car less than 4 lakhs gives u all this.Comments regarding nano causing polll\ution, traffic jams are mostly by people who themselves own and drive cars and suvs which by far guzzle more fuel and emit far more pollutants than the nano.If they r really concerned they should probably cycle or use public transport which i am sure the great majority dont. they are scared that their shiny big cars will have to share road and parking space with the nano which is going to put the great indian middle class on four wheels and cars will no longer be the domain of the rich.why dont u get the same comments when big fuel guzzlers are launched in india.kudos to RATAN TATA and his team for this little genius. | Reply

    What one of the reader has written that Nano will pollute the air is totally wrong. Infact Nano will be helpful in reducing the pollution. If you are really concerned about pollution, stop driving cars and use bicycle instead. Big cars occupy more space of roads and pollute more in terms of volumes of emmission.Nano is a big leap in the direction of reducing pollution and congestion on roads.I must say here that Nano is overpriced. | Reply

    Nano is a fabulous car as compared to its price. If i get a chance I would like to make a movie on Mr Ratan Tata, that can inspire generations to come. As such it holds great potential for India's economy, america's economy ushered because of the automobile. On the infrastructure side, for all the people who complain, i think it will be blessing in disguise as the government will be forced to do capital expenditure on improving roads in not just tier 1 but tier 3,4 cities and again it will mean mass employment for the poor and the money will flow into the system. I think it is a boon for the country. I am surely going to buy a nano even it is means paying a premium over the price as i want to be associated with not just a car but a phenomenon called NANO. | Reply

    Guys... i might never buy a Nano...but am so proud of Mr Ratan Tata.... its so easy to comment of glorified auto or so... funny that we want to display our vocabulary before even thinking that this man today touched close to 1.5 Billion lives, he brought so many dreams to life.... which might just have remained dreams looking through a city bus pane..... | Reply

    It is indeed a matter of pride for Indians to manufacture a product which can launch in the international platform with confidence. India has many talents but does not have one international recognised consumer good accepted everywhere. Hope the bugs and issues are handled well and TATA lauches this world wide with options of electric, propone etc. | Reply

    Tata's will be making very little money per car, but the mobility they will give to the Indian Middle class and subsequently to the economy will be much more. The CO2 that Nano emits is lesser then the huge pride it generates in every Indian’s heart. | Reply

NANO!.... i may not comment on its utility in the crappy Delhi suburbs like Rajauri Garden and Tilak Nagar.... it may be a boon for the people around there.... but, come on... will you, living in a suburb like Rajauri Garden, want to take your "NANO" to CP?!... If you will, perhaps u are ready to take that look from the owners of BMW, which is so being projected as a villain by the "so called NANO enthusiasts"!.... Realistically speaking, have they even had a look at the new BMW 1 Series?!!.....I dont think so!! | Reply

    It's finally out of the box and in good time too...I am glad to read about the Nano and even more pleased to know that it is an able city performer...I think the Nano would be a boon in a city like Delhi and I look forward to driving one sometime soon.... :) I hear the booking method is a little daunting and a lucky lakh will be the first to own a Nano.....It will really be great to see this car on roads :) | Reply

    This is the best review that i have gone through for a vehicle! Partially because of content and partially because of bias towards this noble cause. Honestly , my heart was wanting the review to be like this only for a car like Nano. I think its a moment of pride for our Nation. I pray for grand success of the car internationally. This day has surely witnessed beginning of new era in Auto industry.....India's new name..."Detroit of East" is now a fact. "Jai Ho" Nano. | Reply
