Chevy Beat registers 10000 bookings in 24 days

Chevrolet-Bit

Barely 24 days of its launch, Chevrolet Beat has already registered 10000 booking so far. The company has so far already sold 2825 units of the Chevy Beat. Apart from the Beat, there were 3,477 units of Chevrolet Spark1,512 units of Chevrolet Tavera, 686 units of Chevrolet Cruze, 434 units of Aveo U-VA, 364 units of Aveo, 72 units of Chevrolet Captiva and 51 units of Chevrolet Optra, this January.

Commenting on this impressive performance, P Balendran, Vice-President, GM India said, "The response to our latest offerings from the 300 series, the Cruze and the Beat, has been overwhelming and we are certain that these will further provide an impetus to Chevrolet's growth in the Indian market."

GM India is now in the process of further ramping up its production by adding the third shift at its Halol plant and second shift at Talegaon plant to meet the increased demand of its products. The company is also rapidly expanding its sales and service network to 300 locations across the country by the end of this year from the present 204 outlets to support the market demand of its cars.

The company had also introduced a number of industry first programmes including a centralized 24x7 call centre to attend to customer complaints and provide information related to Chevrolet products and services. A local call to 3030-8080 from any landline or mobile phone across the country can access this service.

I own Aveo since 3 years. I have not issues with the car. My mainteance cost is lower than sx4 or at par with Santro. Yes I agree there are some issues with their customer care. But i don't care becuase in a year i only visit twice GM workshop for regular service.Guys TOYOTA and HONDA have bit dust by the recent developments. Hence please stop boasting about them.GM may not produce great cars. But they don't price their products exhorbitant like Honda. | Reply

There are lot of reasons to buy Chevy. Chevy cars run more miles, as good as Japanese. Chevy provides free maintenance for 3 yrs which many Japanese do not provide. And the last maintaince (human resources like mechanic) are very cheap in India. It is true that people say American cars die at 100000 miles and Japanese at 200000. But I personally do not agree or guarantee it. Chevy is a very good company the villians are American labor unions. All I can say is kill Communism, vote for Capitalism. Please do vote the next time. | Reply

@SamG - where from did you get idea that Chevy and Ford been looked at crap brand in US? It may be your personal opinion but not mass for sure. They stand on their own ground. | Reply
  • SamG (10 February 2010 02:34)
I live in the US and certainly the brand perception for many brands, not just GM, is at totally different planes in the US and in India. Chevy brand is considered a good luxury brand in India whereas it is considered crap here in the US. Same with Ford too. India is an emerging market where cheap small cars sell. US is a mature market where only quality cars are respected and GM/Ford can't compete with Japanese brands. There is a reason that all 3 US carmakers went bankrupt last year - GM, Ford and Chrysler. | Reply

thats true..i too live in US..but the way other companies captured US market and introduced breakthrough technologies is widely accepted..US companies are still to make a hybrid car.. | Reply

@gixinme Your logic seems a little flawed. Indeed if they could spend so much money, why wouldnt they do it on making good cars?My suggestion is: See beyond the generalized mindsets. To start with: GM India doesnt make/sell the cars it makes/sells in the US. They are from their European/Korean design centers. Second: GM couldnt have been No 1 for 77 straight years, just by doing what you said. No business works like that. So, guys, see the product for your self. . And judge thus. . I myself own a Chevrolet Optra magnum. And I can assure you, I am extremely satisfied. Both with its performance (superb engine, super power), and the build quality. And if Chevy needs any introduction , guys do check the Chevrolet Camaro, or the Chevrolet Corvette. | Reply

@gixinme - What you said may b true but why would a company sell a bad car to people and then spend money to hide the defects? instead if the company has so much money, wouldnt it spend it on making the car more successful? | Reply

Hi Prashant,I am also facing the same problem.I have booked BEAT LTO through Aravali, Gurgaon on 18th Jan 2010.I have also checked up with G.M’s Zonal Office and as per them the delivery will take another 15 - 20 days. But I prefer to wait for the Chevy.I also advice don't cancel your booking. | Reply

The BEAT's a great car.....a little underpowered perhaps, but gives a lot of bang for one's buck.....i booked one, on the 18th of jan.....i couldn't figure out how they could offer so much equipment at such a competitive price until the day they were going to deliver it...... it was never delivered!! The car that was to be delivered on the 23rd of jan is yet to make an appearance despite assuarances by the dealer(its the 7th of feb now)....i now know how its so competitively priced; they don't spend money on customer relations at all, not a paisa....The BEAT on its own should be a success story to make even Maruti green with enyy, but married as it is to GM's great customer service, the fairy tale can never have a happy ending | Reply

True Avinash.. Myself living in UAE aka dubai has known the chevy.. Its not worth a penny. I even heard people saying in the India that the Customer relationship is worst done by chevy dealers. I feel its better to invest in Toyota's as they follow the best practises all over the world. | Reply
