Classical Charm

Varad More 04 Nov 2009

Royal Enfield motorcycles hold a special place in the hearts of millions of bikers who ride them. It represents timelessness of the biking spirit and the never-ending joy of motorcycling in its most simplistic form. So much so that it is strongly evident in the way the company has designed its 'new' model and then also named it as Bullet Classic. This new offering from the Chennai-based bike-maker is heavily inspired from the 1932 G2 Royal Enfield motorcycle, which was the first bike to be known as 'Bullet'.

Celebrating its 50 years in India, Royal Enfield has introduced the Bullet Classic with design cues and appeal identical to the gorgeously styled 1932 Bullet but with an all-new unit construction engine and fuel injection to meet today's stringent emission norms. Oozing with old-school charm and enamouring character of the iconic Bullet brand, the Classic has all the detailing and style clues as seen on the legendary G2 model. Available in traditional two-tone paint schemes, the Classic looks absolutely stunning with the spring-loaded saddle, the slanted exhaust and those rubber-mounted knee grips on the tank.

This will be an elite addition in RE's existing line-up in India and it shall further boost the marque's appeal amongst masses. Over the last quarter of the on-going fiscal year, bikes in the 250cc and above category (which is largely dominated by Royal Enfield) have recorded the highest growth rate of 30 percent. While most Indian bike-makers are busy with repackaging same-old engines in new panels and graphics, here is one company that is actually bringing new-age technology wrapped in old-school charm.

this is the company that had india at its knees for 60 years, and did nothing other than bring the same engine in different colours. now they make a new model, while chinese companies with no heritage make 10 new models every day: i mean really new models with different engines. | Reply

Hi Anil,China may be making 10 new models every day, but none of that will be a original originating from their brain. It will be just a copy of some other's work. Please name one original chinese brand which stands for engineering marvel. RE is a proven machine. Always OLD is GOLD. This machine is used world over and appreciated as the best single cylinder machine under 1000 CC. | Reply

Its better to go for a tried and tested legends than Chinese toys ... And Mr. Anil, RE is using newly developed engines for Thunderbird and Classic. Must be out of your mind when you compare Bullet with hinese bikes which you will never see outside China. | Reply

Indeed. I sometimes get tired of maintaining my second hand Thunderbird, Genghiz. But as long as I ride it, it feels great. Especially when you get those looks... The brand is indeed a legacy. Their operations have international standards with 152 pokayokes and the motorcycles from the Chennai stable adhere to European emission norms, only a few Indian brands have. The marketing department too, instead of focusing on mass selling uses other consumer-oriented strategies, oriented mostly at infusing a better riding experience and making new friends. But more than anything else, the riding experience speaks for itself.
