Ford Fiesta TDCI

The Ikon 1.6 was the original 'Josh Machine' from Ford. After the end of its production, Ford introduced the all new Fiesta. Design wise although not as funky as the competition, the Fiesta sported clean lines which were pleasing to the eye. Step on the inside and one is welcomed by one of the sportiest interiors in its class. Even the driver's seat offers a sporty driving position with everything falling at hand with ease. Under the hood, the Fiesta houses a 1.4 litre TDCi engine which is extremely refined. While it may not offer the outright performance of some of its rivals, in gear acceleration is definitely right up there with the best. This makes it extremely drivable. It is also one of the most frugal engines of the lot. Fords have always been known to be great handlers and the Fiesta is no exception. If you need a diesel car to drive around the twisties, the Fiesta is an absolute no-brainer. Everything from the chassis, suspension set up and the steering work in perfect harmony to put a big smile on your face. Strong braking is also one of the finer points of the car. The practical driver's car then? You bet!

I am resident of Australia and these days came back to India I got new Ford Fiesta, it's a very good car technically and look wise Verna is not comparable with Fiesta because it has not a good shape. | Reply

Reading through the above, it seems that Mr.Sanjeev Malik is a Ford employee or a rather poor driver. The refined Verna is anyday a better car than the Fiesta and more bang for the buck. | Reply

Mr. Sanjeev Malik seems to be the only fan of Fiesta over Verna in this entire forum. I drive both and find Verna better, but Sanjeev's argument has increased my knowledge on some technical specs. Thanks Sanjeev | Reply

Just looking at these comment's, I've noticed people who just talk without scrutinizing Verna and Fiesta in comparison. Those who feel that Fiesta has more power than Verna, are totally wrong. Fiesta is in half the power of Verna. I drove both brand new cars. Verna is a power plant. Fiesta has decent power.Coming to Fiesta, Fiesta has more mileage than Verna, this is understandable because of its less Bhp(68) in comparison to Verna(110).So, people please just don't run your mouth illogically! Test drive both these cars and then decide the power factor. VERNA is far more powerful than FIESTA. FIESTA is more fuel efficient than VERNA.DECIDE your vehicle. | Reply

your comment reveals ur knowledge. fiesta is much more refined and engine responds from 1200 rpm while in verna it responds from 2000. do u know what does this mean? it means in any condition fiesta will accelerate quicker in higher gears than verna. verna will accelerate faster only 4m rest. also the need of gear shift in fiesta is almost half than verna, specially while driving through city. overall the difference in acceleration time 4m 40-100 in 4th gear comes out to b 1 or 2 seconds only which is not significant at all. while the chore of driving verna in city is far more. keep on shifting gears of verna and enjoy the so called useless RAW POWER. | Reply

I think fiesta is outdated in comparison with verna diesel as fiesta lacks in power@110bhp,technology,engine refinement, looks, feel. | Reply

I feel Ford Ikon and Verna are comparable in terms of power, but IKON is a bit better, Fiesta is not so good in this respect. | Reply

Fiesta...hello..drive it then only you will come to know the defination of power..it is far ahead of Verna or desire..sir you are driving Ford.. | Reply

Those who tell the Verna cannot be compared to Fiesta, has probably not driven a Verna in their life OR cannot handle the raw power and performance of it's brilliant engine. Compare a 110 horses to a weedy 68. If you cannnot handle the horses, you deserve the mule! | Reply

Sorry Mr. J.S RAMLAL I dont agree with you over your remarks for FIESTA. I m using this car and it is returning me a mileage of 18-20 with a.c on and 30 percent running in heavy traffic of NEW DELHI. It is well ahead of its competitors like DEZIRE, VERNA AND LINEA. Plus the refinement of FIESTA is something to die for. It is the only car with an ALL ALUMINIUM ENGINE which means the maintainence of temperature in engine is BEST IN CLASS. I agree the mileage is not 34 as claimed by company but reliability and technical advancement of FORD is far better than that of KOREAN HYUNDAI. FORD IS FORD | Reply

Fiesta Diesel is poor on mileage contrary to company's claims. If you are looking for a fuel efficient car, Fiesta is not the best. Other parameters are fine. | Reply

Fiesta Diesel is very bad on mileage. Though compares with Verna on mileage front, Ford always touted Fiesta as a very fuel efficient car and my experience is anywhere close to their tall claims. If the buyer is looking for mileage, dont take Ford's claims at face value. Else performance is good on other fronts. | Reply

FIESTA cant be compared to VERNA. Refinement of FIESTA kicks out VERNA out of competition. On the whole FIESTA is a great car while VERNA is HOOLIGAN. | Reply

Verna is not to be compared with Fiesta . It is best comapred to IKON , but even here IKON beats verna on drivability | Reply

Fiesta seems to be good car in terms of mileage and is better than Verna. But when it comes to serviceability of Ford vehicle, all goodies of Fiesta are just drained. Costly spare parts and long waiting periods for Fiesta service is big minus. Verna scores immensely well in terms of power, pickup, style, cabin sound and availability of service centre in every nook and corner of country. | Reply
