2009 BMW Z4 launched in India!

Team ZigWheels 12 Oct 2009

BMW India has brought in the new latest international version of its acclaimed Z4 roadster into the country. Launched today in Mumbai, the Z4 will demand a price tag of Rs 59 lakh ex-showroom for the Z4 sDrive35i variant.

The sDrive35i is the 2009 Z4's top-of-the-line variant, featuring BMW's new dual-clutch 7-speed automatic gearbox. The three-litre twin-turbo inline-six engine makes a stonking 306PS of power and 400 Nm of torque. In cue with Beemer's sporty traditions, the new car also has Dynamic Drive control that let's the user choose between Normal, Sport and Sport + modes.

BMW already has its 6-series convertible on sale in India, and even though the Z4 shares its top-down traits with the 6, that is where the similarities end. The Z4 forms a completely different class of cars, smaller in size, a true two-seater in roadster fashion, but with great power and very manageable dimensions for nimble and agile handling. The 2009 model also has a major improvement over its predecessor - the car now comes with a foldable hard-top roof, and hence replaces both the coupe and cabriolet versions of the earlier model.

BMW Z4

Of late, BMW has been threatening Mercedes-Benz to take the top spot in India as far German luxury car makers go. A lot of the shift has to do with the fact that an increasing number of buyers have begun to associate not only luxury but also performance and style with German cars. A sporty and chic model like the Z4 is sure to not only fortify that threat, but also diversify BMW portfolio in India to a much more well-rounded one that goes beyond just luxury cars.

We'll have the roadest of the hot new roadster, besides special features about the car on our website and in our monthly magazine soon, so stay logged in and watch the stands!

Why they are blowing Indians with huge price hike ? See, In US it costs $51,650 MSRP only . ie. around 26 lacs max. In India 59 lacs . !!!!!!!!! | Reply

I feel except the design the car does not speak of anything much a 3L supercharged engine is ok, but no comparison to the M3 as far as raw power is concerned. Its looks more like a pimps car. | Reply

i think the car is fantastic but as the new modle of lamborghini rev and all new porsche have launched in the market it is very attractive and as there is tough compete so i think if bmw z4 launched in2007 it would grab more attention.and the price is also perfect. | Reply

I think the price is alright, in usa it costs around 45lacs . They have showed an episode on tv about bmw and how they make the Z4. The engine is made in germany and i think it has aluminium along with manganese as compounds of its engine. Its strong nd light weight nd is used so as to balance the weight of the z4, then the engine is send to bmw plant in spartenburgh in usa where the car is made, aluminium is used for the body,it is polished and painted(only 2ltrs of paint is used to paint the z4 and they use ostrich feathers to remove dust particles before painting it so that the paint coat is uniform), seats come from some other company which are specifically made to plant u on the seat during tough cornering nd speeds. its got traction control which works fantastically. its costly but ultimately such cars are for the rich | Reply
